When I was a little kid, everything
seemed easy, the world was at my feet, and I had “when I get older I can do
anything” mindset. Now that I am older, nothing is simple, the world seems out
of reach. I know life isn’t boundless but has many limits. I could go back to
the time when my parents sheltered me from the harsh realities I face growing
up. I can remember the point in my life where I was not a kid anymore, and I
gained perspective on life. The value of education is something that I have
understood since a very young age. One day, my mother took me to her workplace.
I felt like I was in a different world where I could witness her giving a lecture.
I grew up seeing how she encountered hardships as a mother of two children and
at the same time as a professor at the university.
After I graduated Lyceum, I became certain that if I
wanted to pursue a higher education I needed to be persistent and determined to
achieve my career aspirations. However, I would not be at this level in my
education without my mother’s support. She has provided me with a decent
quality of life, without having my father’s emotional and economic assistance. I
would not say I am from a disadvantaged family. My mother receives one of the higher
salaries in Uzbekistan. Nevertheless, as South Korea is one of the most
developed countries on the globe, cost of living and salaries are different here.
Although I am in the process of job hunting to cover my expenses, as an international
student who is facing different obstacles of independent life, I am having a
hard time to find a decent job. I cannot let a financial issue will be the
obstacle on my journey toward growth. Due to this reason, I am seeking
financial aid to continue my studies and personal development at Korea University.
I believe education is the key to success, and I try
to connect my passion for education with my desire of helping others. I know
that all of my goals will remain dreams if I do not complete my degree. Therefore,
I am committed to working hard and looking for opportunities that could help me
make my goals a reality I decided that I will attain a career as a psychologist
since my passion has always been assisting others and trying to improve their
quality of life. Therefore, I think that pursuing such a career will provide me
the opportunity to help improve the community’s health quality conditions and
learn about their mental needs. After becoming a certified psychologist, I want
to specialize in counselling, helping people by giving them advice about their problems,
and add my knowledge to the field.
Furthermore, I want to contribute to populations in
South Korea and Uzbekistan that struggle every day to sustain a healthy life
without stress and anxiety, and who do not have as much access to psychological
assistance as other privileged groups. The first project I want to accomplish
throughout my career as a psychologist is to establish a free counselling
center where affordable mental support is offered.
I am grateful to find opportunities like the one that your
scholarship program is providing to students like me who are constantly
fighting for the right to receive an education. I will remain persistent and keep
working hard until I reach my career goals. I am hopeful to become one of your
scholarship winners so that I can continue on my pathway to becoming a qualified
