Queen Elizabeth was born to George VI and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon on April 21, 1926 at
Mayfair, London, United Kingdom. She was named Elizabeth Alexandra Mary after her mother,
grandmother, and her great – grandmother. She also had a little sister name Margaret.
Elizabeth and Margaret had private tutors that taught them about mathematics, history,
literature, and also learn dancing. Elizabeth loved to be around nature. She also loved puppies,
dogs, and animal in general. She also enjoys reading books and studying. On the other hand, her
sister is the opposite of her. Margaret loves to explore and go on adventure.
In the early 1972, Princess Elizabeth’s parents took a tour of Australia and New Zealand,
leaving her with her nannies. Her father thought that she was still little and young to take out to
the public. She avoids contractions go with her parents, so they made the first royal transatlantic
telephone call on May 18, 1927.
Elizabeth got to grow up in a cozy, normal house and her friends were daughters of
businessmen and doctors. None of them were royal princesses. Her parents thought that it would
good for her to grow up in that type of environment.
Elizabeth was in the third in line after her uncle and her father to be able to take over the
throne and rule the kingdom. Unless her parents bore another child and it’s a boy, then she would
have been pushed back to the fourth in line to the throne. Her uncle was still young so it was
possible for him to get married and have kids. After her grandfather step off as the king,
Ser 2
Elizabeth’s uncle took over the throne. But because he after his proposed marriage to divorced
socialite Wallis Simpson provoked a constitutional crisis, he had to step down and Elizabeth’s
father, took over. So now she was the next person in line.
When Elizabeth was 25, she became queen. At that time, she never expected to be queen
at a young age. At that moment, Elizabeth was actually touring in Canada and visited President
Harry S. Truman in Washington D.C., in October 1951, her private secretary, Martin Charteris,
carried a draft accession declaration in case the King died while she was on tour. Since she just
got married with Prince Philip, she wanted to travel the world with him without thinking about
being queen at all. That’s when the king passed away from the stress of the war, heavy smoking
and subsequent development of lung cancer among other ailments, including arteriosclerosis and
Buerger’s disease. The king has been sick for a while but Elizabeth herself didn’t know that her
father’s life would like so suddenly. Haven’t heard the news yet, Elizabeth and Philip (Her
husband) went back to their home and Philip found out about what have happened and broke the
news to Elizabeth that her father have passed away and that she was positioned on the throne.
She was shocked and did not really feel ready to take care of the kingdom, but she knew that she
had the blood line, so she knew she could do it. They asked her if she will take that position of
queen, and she responded with, “of course”. After that, Elizabeth and Philip started heading back
to London and almost immediately moved into Buckingham Palace.
After that day when she was appointed to the throne, and was crowned, Elizabeth has
done many things for her kingdom. She tried to make the kingdom more modern but still keep
the tradition of the kingdom. Her reign has been mainly peaceful and has been marked by vast
changes in her people’s lives, in her country’s power, how Britain is viewed abroad, and how the
monarchy has regarded and portrayed. As a constitutional monarch, Elizabeth did not weigh in
Ser 3
on political matters, and also, she does not let the public know what her view is on the political
affairs.
At the start of the 21st century, Elizabeth had experience the greatest losses. She had to
say goodbye to her sister Margaret and her mother in 2002, the same year she celebrated her
golden Jubilee, or 50th year on the throne. Margaret was known for have an adventurous soul,
who was barred from marrying an early love, and who died after having a stroke. Only a week
later, Elizabeth’s mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyons died of old age as she was 101 years old.
Elizabeth never let she character or kindness or leadership go unnoticed. She loves the
Lord and has met with a couple of popes. She loved to help out so she would helped the church
out in any way she could. It has a formal meaning, because it indicated that the Queen has
Supreme Governor of the Church of England. But it also had a personal meaning, because her
reign has been characterized by acknowledgement of her dependence on Jesus Christ.
Until this day, Queen Elizabeth has been a very fantastic queen. She’s the queen of 12
countries that have become independent after her ascension. She went through many wars and
conflict as she reigned. Her leadership has impacted on others. She loved the Lord and she also
said, “But I shall not have strength to carry out this resolution alone unless you join in it with me,
as I now invite you to do. God help me to make good to my vow, and God bless all of you who
are willing to share in it.”
Queen Elizabeth brake the record and has been the longest-reigning monarch in British
history. And she is still on the throne till this day. On 6 February 2017 she became the first
British monarch to celebrate a Sapphire Jubilee, commemorating 65 years on the throne.
